Language access

Translated website or translated app: same thing?

You found a page in your language, and now wonder if the app speaks it too.

A simple paper tracker and pencil on a desk.

No. A translated website and a translated app are two separate things, and one can be in your language while the other is not. Check the language of each one on its own before you rely on it.

This matters when you are helping yourself, or a parent, to find something calm to try on a phone.

What is the difference between a website and an app?

A website opens in your browser. An app is installed from the Play Store or App Store and has its own screens, menus and audio.

This site is a website. It is written by the Blissful editorial team, who are independent. We are not the team that makes any app we mention.

Why can the languages be different?

Each product has its own makers and its own list of languages. A site can add Malay or Chinese pages without the app changing at all.

The reverse also happens. An app may offer a language that a website you found does not.

Try this: a two-minute language check

Do this before you install anything or hand a phone to a relative.

  1. Open the app’s store page on your phone.
  2. Look for a line that names supported languages, or read the description.
  3. If the language is not named, search the description for the word “language”.
  4. Still unsure? Write down what you found and ask the provider through the support link on the listing.
  5. Decide whether you are happy to follow it in another language, or would rather read our page and skip the app.

What if the app is not in my language?

You still have choices. Our pages in your language explain the practice in your own words, so you can sit without any app.

Our guide on meditating without an app lists other resources on this site. You can also use the free meditation timer, which runs in your browser.

Fitting this into a real day

A quick check works well while you wait for your teh tarik to cool, or on the LRT before you reach your stop. It takes a few minutes and saves a frustrating evening later.

If you are helping a parent, do the check together. Our guide on helping a relative use resources in their language gives you gentle ways to do that.

If something in a translation is unclear, reporting it with a specific example helps us fix it. To choose your own reading language, see choosing the site’s language.

Where to go next

Everything on language access sits in our accessibility and digital confidence guides. If you are not sure where to start, checking an official app listing is a good next step.

When you are ready, Sadhguru’s free 7-minute guided meditation in the Miracle of Mind app is an optional place to try a first sit, and your own-language pages here will still be waiting.

Common questions

If this site is in my language, will the app be too?

Not necessarily. A website and an app are made and updated by different teams, and each decides its own languages. Check the app's store listing, which usually names the languages it supports, or open it and look at its settings before you depend on it.

Where do I find the languages an app supports?

Open the app's page in the Play Store or App Store and look for a languages line or the description text. You can also open the app and check its settings. If the language is not named, treat it as not confirmed and ask the provider.

Can I use this site in my language and still try an app in English?

Yes. You may read in one language and listen in another. If the app is in English only, you can read our page in your own language first, so the steps make sense before you press play.

Who should I ask if the app is only in English?

Ask the app's own provider, through the support link in its store listing. We cannot change the app because we do not make it. You can also tell us which language you wished it had, and we will keep that in mind.

Once you know which language the session uses, you can decide if you want to try Sadhguru's free 7-minute guided meditation, or simply keep reading in your own language.
