Finding official older-adult activity information through JKM
You want an activity for a parent, and every forwarded poster says something different.

If you are looking for an activity for your mother, father or an older neighbour, start with the official source. The JKM website is the social welfare department site of the Government of Malaysia, and it is a safer start than a forwarded poster.
Blissful has no partnership with JKM. We show you where to look and what to ask.
Where on the JKM site should I look?
The JKM website has a Warga Emas section under its services menu, and it lists online portals including eWE and Portal Warga Emas1. Open that section first and read what it says.
The site also lists state offices and district social welfare offices2. These are the places to ask about what is running near you.
What can I confirm, and what do I still have to ask?
This table is your checklist.
| Question | Status |
|---|---|
| Is there an official older-persons section? | Confirmed on the JKM site |
| Are there state and district offices to contact? | Confirmed on the JKM site |
| Is there a list of activities near my home? | Ask the district office |
| Does my parent qualify or need to register? | Ask the office |
| Which language is used? | Ask the office or organiser |
Try this: ask before you go
- Find your district office on the JKM site and note the contact method it lists.
- Write three questions: What is on? Who can join? What should my parent bring?
- Ask about language: “My mother speaks Teochew and some Malay. Will that be fine?”
- Ask about access: stairs, lifts, toilets, seats, and the way in from the car park or bus stop.
- Save the answers in one note, with the date and the name of the person you spoke to.
What if I cannot reach anyone?
Try again at a different time, or use another listed contact. Do not let an undated post fill the gap. Our guide on choosing a verified resource instead of an undated social post shows how.
What about my parent’s wishes?
Ask your parent what they would enjoy before you book anything. An activity they chose themselves is more likely to become a habit. Our guide on meditation for older adults has a gentle practice if they are curious.
If your parent seems low or unwell, please see a doctor and look at our support page.
Where to go next
Before any outing, read preparing practical questions before joining a local activity. For booking wording, see reading appointment and referral details on service pages. The full topic is in everyday life and local resources in Malaysia.
If you want a few quiet minutes yourself, Sadhguru’s free 7-minute guided meditation in the Miracle of Mind app is optional and short.
Common questions
Is Blissful connected to JKM?
No. Blissful is independent and has no partnership with JKM or any government body. We point to the public JKM website so you can read the official wording yourself, and we do not run or approve any activity.
Does the JKM site list activities near me?
The home page lists a Warga Emas section and state and district offices, but we could not confirm a list of local activities from it. Ask your nearest JKM district office what is running in your area.
What if my parent speaks only Hokkien, Tamil or Malay?
Ask the office or organiser which language the activity uses before you go. A website in one language does not prove the staff speak it. Bring a family member who can help the first time if you can.
